UCR School of Medicine - Celebrating 10 Years

Celebrating 10 Years of Medical Education, Research, & Care

Throughout 2023, the School of Medicine at the University of California, Riverside will be celebrating our 10th anniversary. As we celebrate we'll be reflecting on our past, observing our present, and looking forward to our future.

While the school was founded in 2013, it was built upon a foundation of nearly 40 years of medical education and biomedical sciences research. Between the UCR/UCLA Biomedical Sciences Program, later called the UCR/UCLA Thomas Haider Program in Biomedical Sciences, and the School of Medicine, hundreds of students have come through UC Riverside on the way toward a career in medicine, with hundreds more in the queue. All of them are working towards the goal of improving access to health care for the people of Inland Southern California.

Share the Celebration With Our Digital Assets

As part of our celebration, we have created a variety of School of Medicine 10th Anniversary digital assets, including special Zoom backgrounds, Powerpoint and Canva slide decks, letterhead, and email signatures. We'll be adding more resources throughout the year.

The Future of Medical Education

SOM Education Building 2
The SOM Education II Building

The opening of the new School of Medicine Education Building II will mark a sea change in medical education at UC Riverside. With 57,000 assignable square feet, the building will provide new instruction areas, study facilities, and academic and administrative offices and support spaces.

The building is scheduled to open in the fall of 2023 with a groundbreaking ceremony followed by a grand opening gala. More information about these events will be posted soon, but in the meantime you can follow the construction of the building with this live feed from the construction site.

Supporting the School of Medicine

The School of Medicine would not have reached the heights we have attained today without the help and support of our generous donors.

Your philanthropic support provides resources to medical students, faculty research, and clinical care to better serve Inland Southern California communities. A gift to the School of Medicine’s greatest needs in honor of 10 years of advancing medicine and the opening of the new Education Building II in 2023, will make an impact for years to come.
